BLOGGERS BEWARE!

I urge everybody who blogs to go and read this post.

Brenda Coulter is warning about a certain website who are blatantly stealing other bloggers' posts and passing them off as their own.

I am horrified that these people (and many others) are getting away with this. I'll leave Brenda's post to explain...

OMG I can't believe it. And in the comments section when people have brought it to their attention they don't even seemed to be repentant for it

This is crazy ~ I read another blog recently complaining of the same thing. While on one hand you as the author/blogger could consider it flattering, the feeling of having your words stolen outweighs the flattery.

Ridiculous.

It's getting crazy. Not too long ago, I found my articles up on someone's blogs (same deal except the whole article was up and he was crediting himself with having written it)...you'll find it in the archives of my blog. Don't people have enough imagination to write their own blogs?

Hmm... Dorothy, I was initially intending to thank you for your comment, but I'm more interested to know why in one of your blogs you felt the need to copy the title and first two sentences of MY blog? Is it a case of 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'?

Excuse me? Titles aren't copyrighted and I changed the sentence. Perhaps I didn't change it enough in my haste to let people know what happened to Brenda and I'm certainly sorry I offended you. Where you had linked to Brenda, I knew it would save me time to copy the first part of the sentence where the link was so I wouldn't have to go over and find the link again. I was in a hurry, but I should have stopped and reworded the whole sentence. I really didn't think you'd mind as I was expressing your sentiments. Yeah, I gotta admit it was stupid on my part being as that was the whole issue to begin with, but being as I had commented in your blog, I certainly wasn't trying to hide it. Since it made you so upset, I have taken the blog post down from my blog. Again, my apologies.

Dorothy, I wouldn't have minded if you'd mentioned it to me, or told people you'd discovered it from my blog. But it was because I found out by accident that it made me angry.

Thank you for your apologies - which I accept. I'll take down my other post about it.

It is important to make other writers aware of this issue, so if you want to repost the article go ahead - your site no doubt has more traffic than mine (if you want to link to me that's fine too ;-)).

PS. Every day is a learning curve for me - thanks for bringing to my attention the point that titles aren't copyrighted.
